RNC Commission report released

leave a comment »

Yesterday afternoon I went to the St. Paul City Council meeting for the RNC Commission’s report on the convention’s security measures. Standing in the cold afterward, I did this live spot on KFAI about the report. Today I’m preparing a larger story on the commission’s findings.

Here’s the gist of it: Attorneys Thomas Heffelfinger and Andy Luger said that while law enforcement agencies acted “professionally and with restraint” during the RNC, that there are concerns about some things, such as the public’s misunderstanding of amped-up police presence; numerous journalist arrests; and some use-of-force tactics. A public hearing on the matter will be scheduled at a later date.
